Husband of Dreams

My husband is the type of guy that "if you want it bulit, it will be built". He is such a handy guy and because of that saves us a TON of money. He can change oil, rotate tires, do brakes and rotors, build things, paint things, etc etc etc. HE ROCKS!

He is teaching our son to be handy too. Today JP wanted to build a clubhouse, so after 1 hour a bit of sweat and absolutely $0 spent....a clubhouse was done.

DONE I tell ya!

5 minutes latter 4 neighbor kids were all ooing and aahing at the clubhouse complete with mailbox.

Now many of you are thinking: clubhouse? That boy already has a clubhouse---the pirate ship.

Yes, last summer my son had a dream of having a pirate ship in the back yard. So my husband built it...in one afternoon and for $0. Yep, he rocks!

The best part of this clubhouse today is that it shows JP how to build things and build things with supplies you already have. So someday when JP's wife says "can you build me a bookcase by friday"

He will say "Yes, dear." Just like he daddy did for me a few short weeks ago!

Perspective

I am so thankful for the ability of my Father to show me how blessed I truly am.
It amazes me.
I am so blessed to be surrounded by family, friends, and comfort.

Recently I may have been slightly bitten by the "green eyed monster". What I mean by slightly is that I spent an evening in a bit of a fog because I was left thinking about my house. I had recently seen an AMAZING home with INCREDIBLE decor and after that I retreated to my home and was just like "oh" instead of "aah".

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my house. It is perfect for our family. We could live in it forever, but it is not my dream home. I have always been content with always having something to "look forward to" or "dream about". My philosophy has always been ---if you have everything now, you have nothing to dream about and work towards.

I am a big believer in goals and dreams, but lately I have just been in a "funk".

TODAY I was relieved of my funk as I witnessed someone dealing with something very hard and potentially life changing. And it was all things I never even have to think twice about or worry about.

I feel so ashamed for even feeling the slightest bit green eyed.

So this evening I will spend cleaning my beautiful palace, playing with my family, and thanking God for everything He has provided for us.

Sing Up

Some of you have probably seen people singing in their cars and thought, "My word they look silly!"

BUT have you ever thought of it this way...

My Nana once told me, "I love seeing people singing out loud while their driving. They are always so happy. It makes me smile when I see them."

She is right. I have never seen someone singing in their car that wasn't smiling. Ever since that conversation I have enjoyed smiling when I see someone singing and I have not been afraid to belt out a few tunes myself!

AJ is following in my footsteps by singing "hawewwuah Jesus, hawewwuah Jesus, You are God."

That is HER version of Monk & Neagle!

So sing up ladies and spread the cheer!

I hope I live to be at least 98. I hope when I am 98 I am still as able bodied as a 70 year old.

I love admiring our older generation.

When I am sitting in line at McDonald's because let's face it, it is where I spend most of my time during meal times, I enjoy watching the elderly leave. I wonder what their life story is. I love the older folks who can look at us young ones and appreciate the stage we are in.

I hope I am an encouraging older folk and not a scowling one.

Just doing my part to entertain you at 2am

This is just my way of serving you, my readers. You can always count on me for some new fresh reads.

I can't promise they will be good, but they may make you at least chuckle.

And they could possibly aid in you insomnia, by actually making you drowsy!

Future Double Date

3 year olds and Baseball---Synonym or Antonym...you decide!

Dashboard tells me I was about to post #100. So I have been stalling for DAYS, not posting perfectly blog-worthy materia, just so I could post my big 100.

So now I have to come up with 10 posts to get me to 100!

Caution: Tears may form.

Today was a glorious day filled with love.

The love of nature and all things fall.

The love of sunshine.

The love of little kids and laughter in my home.

The love of my friends.

The love of hammy thingys...recipe soon to follow.

The love of picking up my smiling boy from school.

And the love and compassion of a boy for his friends.

Today JP was at recess when he heard somone crying. From across the playground he looked up and saw one of his good buddies. Baron had fallen HARD on the playground, face first. JP did not even hesitate he ran over to where Baron was hobbling to a teacher. JP announced to his teacher Baron is MY friend. So Ms. M asked JP to take Baron to the nurses office where he stayed with his good buddy until another teacher came after JP and asked him to return to his class. He spent his whole recess with his hurt friend. A friend he has known since they were 1. A friend he does not ALWAYS play with on the playground, but when that friend needed him, he was there. No questions asked.
Immediately upon getting in the car JP needed to call Baron and make sure he was ok. So he made his first kid to kid call and sure enough his buddy, who is bandaged up, sounded great and was feeling better.

I love my boy.

I love those close kids he has been friends with for years.

I love those close kids' mommies and daddies!

We all have GREAT KIDS!!!

Better late than never

She was excited!
She was FIRED UP!
She had the pep talk from mom.
She had the pep talk from Bub.
She got the thumbs up from Coach Daddy.
She giggled through warm-ups.
She went to the porta potty.
She freaked out and ran from the porta potty.
She went back to her team.
Game started and she was....not playing.
Nope not gonna do it.
Fully willing to lose the privelege of tv and gummy snacks.
Gummy snacks I tell ya!
I kept asking, "are ya ready to go in...games almost over"
"if you don't change you attitude and find your happy heart you will lose those 2 priveleges"
She was fine with that.
Then literally the last 2 minutes of the game she decided to go if "coach bub" went too.
So she did it. Played 2 minutes and had fun.
Needless to say she is not asleep yet because although I left the tv in her room, since she did not play as much as the coaches and her team needed her too, she did lose her privelege of tv for the night.

Sidetracked

You know how as a mom, you have to be able to multi-task?

I am great at multi-tasking.

I can watch gymnastics while working an order for the giftshop AND talking within 3 separate conversations.

I can watch soccer practice while paying attention to 3 sweet little girls and chatting with my friends all the while a poor boy turns sick right before our eyes.

I can watch football practice chatting with a friend on the playground while watching 3 little girls chase each other, accept a phone call about an outhouse and reprimand a child who is not mine.

I can make dinner while bathing 2 children, administering a spelling test, listening to a message about an outhouse, penciling in 2 separate birthday parties, returning 2 phone calls, and while running in between the bathroom and kitchen I shot 2 loads of laundry in the dryer and the washer.

I can....wait the washer!

Yep I was washing a load of NOTHING! Well actually there was the plastic lid from the detergent bottle and now it is squeky clean!

I am capable of doing a million things at once...just not perfectly.

Friday Five

5 things I want to do with my friends as we grow old.

1. I want to continue the annual sleepover where we stay up to the wee hours of the morning, although if we were wise we would take the advice of this little guy.

2. I want to vacation together as families.

3. I want us to reassure the young moms at Burger king, when they have not one but TWO potty accidents on the play equipment.

4. We would make the cutest Red Hat Ladies...we just have that kinda personality.

5. I want to laugh over and over about this.

Driving along in my automobile...

You know those events in your life that are so funny and great that one day you are driving along and out of nowhere you start laughing?

Today I was doing just that...driving along on an unusually long ride home from school due to a road block, when I began giggling like a school girl.

I was remembering a great road trip a few years back. 3 moms and 3 big kid boys travelled a few hours over to the Natural State to visit a dear friend and her boys for her big boy's 4th birthday. We had great conversations and the boys had lots of wrestling time. At the birthday we were all standing around watching all the kids do a 'bug hunt' while one of the mom's was videotaping all the chaos.

One of the moms sighed and said, "Isn't P just adorable?"

There was a pause of confusion and then an immediate "Oh Oh I mean R. I mean R."

Immediate laughter was bellowing from all the gals within ear shot.

Ya see. P is our friends HUSBAND. R was the sweet adorable 2 year old!

I giggle at the thought of that funny story everytime I hear it!

If your happy and you know it clap your hands!

CLAP! CLAP!

Today was one of those days you only read about in fairy tales. Well of course there was the crazy hiccups before the grand happily ever after ending.

Once upon a time there was a fair maiden who had to rise at the crack of dawn to prepare the younng prince for 1st grade. Teeth were brushed, woot was checked, hair was styled, blogs were checked, breakfast was fed, emails were checked, lunch was packed, blogs were checked again, and finally the young prince was escorted to the family carriage by the strapping handsome ever so kind King of our household.

Alas the fair maiden was alone to check more blogs. After checking more emails the maiden decided she better clean the house a smidge more, so she cleaned and straightened and tidy the house until the 8 o clock hour. After a royal bathing she stepped forth into her oh not so giant closet and pondered what to wear. Pondering, however, was not working for here so she began choosing outfits. 4 outfits later a perfect one was chosen, afterall the fair maiden could not go to the first MOPS meeting of the year without looking SPECTACULAR.

The princess was awakened by the sweet kiss of the maiden and a SMASHINGLY Stylin' outfit was chosen. Cereal was poured and hair was fixed and at 9pm the carriage was ready to leave. "Oh where oh where for art my keys? Are they nary a here or nary a there? I cannot find my keys" the maiden shrieked at the king via messenger.

Alas the keys were found for the horse drawn carriage, they simply were down the valley 2 castles over on someone elses counter.

A marvelous time was had by the maiden at the MOPS meeting. The princess attended childcare! victory! Victory! The maiden ate delightful foods and engaged in fabulous conversations AND she held a 12 day old baby princess. The maiden now so desires yet another child now. Creativity was shown through a fun and easy craft. At half past 11, the maiden gathered the princess and headed for the village marketplace.

It was highly necessary to return some hiteous ultra low rise jeans that would have only pleased the King and no one else. After the delightful shopping extravaganza the maiden and the princess retired to their castle for a delightful lunch of cheezits and granola bar all the while the princess threw a fit. It was the desire of the princess to wear very thick pajamas for the rest of the day, so a large temper was thrown. Into the carriage they went temper in check, to fetch the handsome young prince.

Upon fetching the boy, the maiden picked up the Prince's best friend. Although the carriage was LOUD because princess was now pitching fit number 2 over needing a FULL bottle of water, the chatter of princes was heard.

"I think I must be the hottest boy in school. There is a girl that wants to kiss me and hug me." The maiden gasped so as for the princes to not hear.

Prince Z "did you run"

Prince J "oh yeah"

Prince Z "thats good"

Prince J "yea that is what Gat taught me"

Shew wee the maiden wiped the sweat from her brow (yes even maidens sweat). The maiden did wonder where in this kingdom did the prince hear "hottest boy in school" Must of been the princess after him.

Upon reaching the castle, the princess retired to her room with a FULL bottle of water and the princes retreated to the dungeon for manly games. The maiden escaped to check her blogs, which aah hem have been a bit dry lately! Upon checking here, the maiden shrieked with great joy as if she had just won the kingdom lotto for a whole cow! THANK YOU BOOMAMA!

All the while the heavens had parted and the sky was glorious for the whole entire day. A gorgeous day with magnificent temperature, the first real fall day. The maiden must call on the pheasant boys to fetch her some cornstalks and hay bales. Fall decor is a must in a castle.

The day was complete with a trip cross the kingdom for a grand game of biddy soccer. The princess did fabulous until she was checked in the head with the ball HARD. After the coaches and um aah hem a few parents stopped laughing the sweet princess was consoled and the carriage was loaded to head to the castle.

The princess and prince were fast asleep and the maiden was typing with speed with the magnificent and handsome King prepared the feast for such a HAPPY HAPPY maiden.

THE END!

The Skinny On Cracking Style...pun intended!

You know me I cannot pass up a sale.

With that said i actually dragged my poor husband to Old Navy on Saturday night, sans kids. He was so great to happily go with me! How could I not go? THE WHOLE STORE WAS 50% OFF...SERIOUSLY.

Apparently some big wig in the Old Navy chain decided to sell down the outlet and then close it for 2 months to do a remodel. UM Yeah great idea...I am so sure that when all is said and done and the numbers come back THAT guy will be wishin' he had rethought that decision, course he'll have plenty of time to think about it WHILE HE SITS ON UNEMPLOYMENT!

Seriously what were they thinking closing down in the middle of SEASON??? Why not wait until January when literally you can lay down in the middle of the strip and not get hit by a car till MARCH?

So if some big wig is going to be oh so smart, I am so totally going to take advantage of it. So my hottie and I walked out of Old Navy with 2 giant heavy bags!

Now fast forward 2 days because I have no patience to try things on in the store...I am in my room trying on ALL the clothes I bought when I get to the last pair of jeans:

ULTRA LOW RISE BOOTCUT JEANS
Size 6

Now I knew when I grabbed them that I probably wouldn't like them, but they were $7. Jeans for $7, I had to try them.

Now here is what I learned:

Just because a gal is a size 6, which I certainly ain't complaining about, does not mean ultra low rise is for her, or me in this case!

The jeans totally fit, but if I wear them i may be asked to deplane a Southwest airplane. :)

I will leave you with one final thought....

Why do you suppose they have ultra lowrise jeans in sizes higher than oh say a 1?

My Favorite Jeans

Thank you oh 'closet gods'. You are ever so kind as to keep me jeans from shrinking over the past 5 months.

I was not so excited to drag out my favorite jeans from summer storage, but it was necessary. I have been dreading the very day I would have to do that.

So last night as I prepared for a 'hot date' with my husband, I dug through the closet to find said pair of jeans. As I unfolded them I said a little words of hope. Slowly and wishfully I pulled the jeans up, only to have them SLIDE ON WITH EASE!!! THANK YOU OH CLOSET GODS!

I was even able to enjoy a ridiculously large dinner and still have plenty of room in my jeans! Whoo hoo!!

I enjoyed my jeans through my whole date which lasted until the ripe ole hour of 7:30pm! We seriously returned home to a kidless house that early. WE ARE SO BORING!

Next time we are kidless I am so calling one you for a double date!!

Character Confusion

"Once upon a time there was a princess named Cinderella. And God was not nice to her."

What?

Hmmm? Maybe AJ is getting her movies mixed up with her bible lessons.

20 minutes later....

Aah! She means Godmother!

Out of the Mouths of the Babe and the Hunk

This week we ventured to Picture People to catch a quick 3 year pic of AJ. We had the first appointment of the day and we were waiting in the quiet lobby when a lady wheeled in her stroller. I thought it was a double stroller, but actually it was a triple stroller.

Now it is not often you see a triple stroller. In the stroller were 3 cute babies. One boy and two girls. I asked the mom how old they were...10 months. So cute.

So we stood in silence just smiling at the babies when AJ looked up at me and then to the lady and said, "Mommy why does that nice lady have 100 babies?"

At least she was polite enough to say NICE lady, right?

So that afternoon we picked up JP from school and told him we saw triplets at the mall.

"Wow! What kind were they?" he said.

"1 brother and 2 sisters"

"WOW!"

"But what kind were they?"

"I told you boy and 2 girls"

"No I mean what animal creature were they?"

WHAT?! "They were HUMAN son!"

"Oh I thought since there were 3 it was an animal litter."

Only my kids would think that lady with the triplets had 100 wolf cubs.
