It is my passion...
Recently there was a contest at Kmart for sports photos or videos, so I submitted a few photos and 2 of JP's were selected for the top 100!
So please go here and register to be a voter and then vote for my boy! The first pic is on page 7 called "Intense Defense" and the second one is on page 8 called "First Catch as Pitcher"
There are a few videos with MANY votes already just after 1 day of voting, so I am hoping with a little help from all of you and your friends we can catch up.
They really are 2 of my favorite photos.
OK I just found out you can vote 10 times per day per email address all the way through NOV 18.

Many people in our neighborhood woke to find their driveways filled with nails, purses stolen, cars broke into, cars keyed, and more.
We were fortunate to only have Aaron's car keyed. It really is odd to see the blessing in the whole event. You see 3 weeks ago someone "broke" into his unlocked car and stole some $1 sunglasses and some box knife razor blades. We did not file a report, we just started locking the door. Our suspects were one of many teenagers that Aaron has actually thrown his body in front of their speeding cars to enforce them to drive with respect to our children filled streets.
So as odd as it may seem, I was "happy" to know it was not just us.
So on the first VERY cold day of this season, I spent a bit of time helping my parents clean their garage a smidge so they could STUFF their large SUV in. In 30 years of marriage this is the first time they have EVER had 2 cars in the garage! It was a good thing we actually just reorganized their garage 2 weeks ago!
Of course with all the cleaning their was still no room for the 4 1/2 foot tall 200 pound Santa Claus. With some quick thinking and knowing that around here you have Christmas FULLY decorated on NOV 1st, I grabbed a white sheet and drew eyes on it and TA-DA...
Santa is a ghost for Halloween!
Whatever happened to punks smashing pumpkins around Halloween?
It must be so 1900's.

He takes school so incredibily seriously that it is possible he may end of with an ulcer by 6th grade.
So yesterday when he leaped from the car the very second I put it into park, I was not really shocked at all.
You see as he leaped he shouted, "A team leader always picks up trash."
I thinking, "what?"
And then I look to see him running over to the neighbor's yard to retreive a milk jug that had escaped the trash on the blustery day.
Really I thought how weird he is, but clearly the character education is AMAZING. I mean if we all stopped and reacted like that think how awesome this country would be....
Not to mention how clean :)

They have the most amazing imaginations.
We live sandwich in amongst girls. The neighbors to the left have a 6th grade girl and a Kindergarten girl. The neighbors to the right have a 2nd grade girl and then highschool kids.
Then there is us with a sweet adorable little 3 year old girl and a very handsome and kind 1st grade boy.
Our yard is "the meetin' place"
I love this...even on the days when I really just don't have time to be outside supervising 5 kids.
Today was one of those days...I didn't have time to "play", but the garage door was up and everyone escaped. So I followed.
It is so awesome to watch a pint sized peanut chasing after "big" kids screaming 'wait for me girls!'.
The girls and ahem boy ran down the hill into the woods. A couple of weeks ago my boys built a clubhouse in the woods off the back side of our shed. The kids have LOVED this space. They have decorated it with a rug and chairs and tables and sticks and stones....oh and a mailbox. It is their treasure, something they ALL worked on. They have even been raking the ground!
They all ran in the path, which they had lined with rocks, and then abruptly stopped lined up and put their hands on their hearts.
I thought what are they doing?
Then in unison the said The Pledge of Allegiance.
As I looked closely I could see a flag decorated pencil tied to a tree!
How cute is that! What a great "clubhouse rule".

Why? You might ask...
Because you end up still filling the bowl, as if it were a cereal bowl, and then yes you EAT THE WHOLE THING.
This is how NOT to diet; however you do get a weeks worth of fiber in one sitting. Which may or may not be a good thing.
Ta-ta for now ladies!

Aah bliss, right?
Now hold on to yourself here, cuz this is gonna be as big as TIVO......
A sippy cup with a beeping mechanism when a full cup sits unattended too long.
TA-DA!!! I am a millionaire!
I thought of this lovely invention as I held my nose, gagged, and dry heaved my way through washing NOT 1 but 2 MILK filled sippy cups. For those of you who cannot imagine what that must have smelled like, let me tell ya my husband says it smells much like the OLD ROTTEN GOOSE EGG that exploded on my son yesterday and literally desserted and entire island of all things living.

This occurred to me for the first time ever in my memory of the past 10+ years, last night.
I was by myself.
What is a girl to do by herself???
I filled my alone time appropriately with favorite friends for an evening of lasagna and girl talk.
It was only after the girls left that I realized I was alone.
All by myself.
It is amazing how ice dropping at 2 am is SCARY!
I was terrified when I finally climbed in to bed knowing the house was secure and I breathed a sigh of relief and then the freezer decided to break the silence with ice falling.
I made it through the night and finally fell asleep after 1 episode of Zack and Cody and 1 episode of Hannah Montana.
I know silly.
Now hopefully I will be prepared for the next time I am ALONE.....
In another 10 years!!!

I have hit a funk this week. I am hoping to be relieved of the funk this weekend after a much needed girls night.
Yes I realize I just had an adult evening out, but talking with people you haven't seen in 10 years just isn't the same as laughing it up with women who would let me cry it out on their shoulders.
There is nothing better than sitting around on a comfy couch wearing jammies and gabbing with the girls. Oh and if we are lucky it will be nice and crisply cold enough that we can have oversized cups of gourmet cocoa in our hands....of course topped with spray whipped cream.
By the way was this morning and day just not perfectly beautiful!? I awoke this morning and peaked my head out to the smell of snow in the air.
NO it did not snow, but the scent it was there. Fall has arrived.
I see the funk lifting now.

The other day I received a message from God in the form of a giant soccer ball hurtling a million miles an hour towards my head....HEADS UP!!!!
So I duck and shield AJ's head as well, BUT failed to move my right hand which was holding my camera with BIG lens.
THUNK!!! expensive lens broken.
Now for those of you that know me, you know that I ALWAYS have my camera with me. It has been said before that I have 3 children: JP, AJ, and little Canon.
It is my most prized possesion, that is until Saturday when I was quickly reminded that it was just a material object.
You see just 45 minutes prior to the "flame soccerball" (seriously) hurtling from the sky, I used hurtful words towards my husband out of frustration and anger. All on a day that I had clearly overscheduled us for.
The very second that ball hit my camera I knew immediately 'why me'. Of course I was upset about it and quite frankly just needed some time to cry.
Never again shall I schedule cupcake baking, husband working, soccer game playing, popcorn selling, wife working, birthday party going, black pant shopping, children packing for sleepover, and 10 year class reunion going...all on the same DAY.
It is too much.
More importantly I apologize to my husband who I know was hurt by my careless and thoughtless words. I love you very much and deeply regret my actions.
Heavenly Father, I pray that I can be cautious with my words both with my husband and my children. Especially AJ who has been trying my patience lately with her tempers. Father please give me encouraging words to use in those tough mommy moments. Also give me the strength to remain patient with AJ during her tempers. I know it is all just a show for me, help me to not give in to her 3 year old ways. in your precious sons name I pray.

The game was fun. The boys lost AGAIN! I can't help but think part of the losing streak is actually the stadium itself. For those of you who watch "Friday Night Lights" on NBC and know that stadium that the Dillion Panthers play in, the stadium here puts that stadium to shame.
We are talking actual seats NOT bleachers. Concession stands with flat screen fancy large tvs all over, so when you are getting a snack you don't miss a second of the game. There is no more of the simple tables piled with t-shirts to sell, because now they have their own "merchandise shop". The announcers booth is larger than most colleges.
Did I mention you NEVER have to even rub elbows with the opposing team? They have their own entrance, their own concession stand, their own bathrooms, and their own bleachers. That's right the opposing team has BLEACHERS about half the size of the home seating.
Apparently though the opposing team doesn't mind sitting in discomfort because they win...every time.
The highschool games of today are not what they were of yesterday. They have lost their excitement. I mean when you go to a highschool ball game and never stand and scream in excitement...there is a problem.
Without crowd involvement, games are not won.
So with that night one of the reunuion weekend was fun. It appears we were one of the first to have children and there are a lot of people that don't have any kids.
As we left last night it was clear that our path had been chosen for us and we LOVE it.
We love being the mom, the dad, the volunteer, the gymnastiics teacher, the soccer coach, the football coach, the boo boo kisser, the go to bed early people, the shocked when someone calls my 6 year old SEXY to his face (more on that later)....
So now I will say good morning and I will go frost the cupcakes I just made at 8am on a Saturday morning.

ok so here are the details:
10 year highschool class reunion---I know sTOP LAUGHING!
1st event homecoming football game with kids friday night weather HOT
2nd event Bar atmosphere around 60 people??? maybe kinda upscale??? no kids
HELP ME...ignore hair and accessories please pick 2 outfits 1 for each occasion...BE BRUTALLY HONEST!
also please ignore the photography skills...they are not my husbands finest.
There I many times I think maybe I shouldn't be so tough, but today I was shown it pays to be tough.
We are temper-free today! Yea AJ! She has just been fabulous. I have been tough and she has been fabulous.
I have always been pretty strict/ tough on JP and many times I have wondered if I was doing the right thing, today I know I was.
He doesn't know it yet, but Monday he is being awarded 'team leader' of his class. This must be pretty big thing because we received a call from the school counselor and were invited to be at school Monday during character assembly, when he receives the award.
I am so proud of him!
And you too AJ, cuz 1 whole day without temper tantrums is a long one for a 3 year old!
We'll just take it one day at a time and maybe one day she will be up there being awarded "team leader"

I am writing you in regards to the weather. I wanted to make sure that you are aware that it is indeed October 1st. You may be unaware of the date, seeing as how it was 80+ degrees today. That is Fahrenheit by the way, not Celsius!
While I do enjoy the great outdoors, I do not enjoy a stuffed closet. That is right my closets are crammed with summer clothes and fall clothes, although I am not sure we will get to wear those adorable new fall clothes before the children out grow them!
Please Please mother nature will you adjust our current temperatures to more autumn appropriate? My children are going to look real funny going to the pumpkin patch in bathing suits!
If you would be so willing to oblige, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
