Boys and Girls...

The Mans man

JP suffered his first playground injury of the school year today as he took an intense tetherball to the eyeball.

In my concern when I picked him up i asked " how is your eye?"

JP: "Do I have a black eye yet, I hope it turns into a black eye. That will make me tougher."

The Girly Girl

AJ on the other hand decided today that , "she is taking a break from MOPS. It is off the list."

However, "The Childrens Place is on the list though. They have cute skirts and shirts."

Apparently who needs socializing at the playground, when you got quality shopping.

You ever have one of those moments when you are 'eavesdropping' on your 7 year olds conversations, and you just hold your breath hoping he answers the question correctly....

cute girl at gym: Does my new hair make me look like a boy?

what seems like eternal pause...

JP: no

shew! The boy knows how to treat a girl.

cute girl at gym: are you sure my hair doesn't make me look like a boy?

JP: yep, it doesn't

when we get the answer we want, why as women do we keep asking?

cute girl at gym: well are you sure i don't look like a boy?

JP: yes

After my initial gasp of relief I had to really hold back to not laugh at this adorable 7 year old boy/girl conversation.

A little twin update...

We had another perinatologist appointment today. The boys scored me another A+. Yea!

Both babies are looking great. They have wonderful fluid amounts. Their growth is exactly where it should be. Everything looked so well, we do not need to go back to the peri for a whole 4 weeks!

Baby A now weighs in at a huge 2 pounds 4 ounces with a heart rate of 150.
Baby B now weighs in at 2 pounds 3 ounces with a heart rate of 157.

Baby A has decided he no longer enjoys his brother's tushee in his face, so he has now flipped and is breech. Baby B still enjoys controlling things and taking up the most space, so he is still transverse. So what I thought was a head and a bottom in the middle of my tummy is really 2 heads almost together. I guess they just wanted to see the face of the guy who has been kicking them.

Next week we will go for one last 3D-4D ultrasound...I will post pictures then.

Now try to imagine this photo cropped a bit, so it is just heads and belly in retro color. Retro is almost a sephia tone. It is my new fave!

The boy who knows how to smile...

I have always taken A LOT of photos of both my kids, so I am not completely shocked when one or both of them ham it up for the camera.
Last week we went to 'the big city' for some photos of the kids and I had to laugh when JP started 'working the camera'.
You would have thought the boy does a 'photo shoot' daily or something. The series of photos was literally taken in less than 5 minutes as he naturally spun around into various positions. I love how his smile shows his giant adult teeth, a memory I will cherish forever.

my favorite is the very first one, I think it reflects his personality the most.

Sharpen your pencils...

First Day of 2nd Grade

It was the smoothest first day morning yet, as far as getting everyone ready and out the door. In fact we were so early we beat all the "loop" traffic and actually had to sit and wait in the car before we walked JP in.

Lacking in confidence he was not. Those eyes and that smile get me every time!

Organizing his desk.

A locker he can fit into. He actually had his sister in it. His locker partner was not there, so he is hoping "he is a good kid".

After he put his backpack away he scurried into his class and sat down with a giant smile. That is when we left and I realized I forgot to hug him goodbye. He was too ready. He is very excited to be in the only "computer class" in 2nd grade. Most of the work they do will be computer based, with little use of actual textbooks.
Good Luck in 2nd grade JP!

Showered with love...

Sunday my Mom opened her home to the ladies of the family to shower me and the babies with love and goodies. My mother in law provided all the yummy food and beautiful cake and my mom transformed their living room into a "two peas in a pod" paradise! I am so lucky to have both my Mommy and my mother-in-law in the same town!

Here is me and my Mom.
I am 25 1/2 weeks in this picture.

The delicious cake! 1/2 chocolate 1/2 white 100% pure goodness.

Both my mom and my mil made "diaper cakes". Check out that super cute 2 peas in a pod diaper cake! How fun huh?

Thanks to all the women in the family and close family friends it was a wonderful shower. My living room is overflowing with double strollers, car seats, and diapers. Between the hospital monitoring, the bed rest, and the shower this weekend we have had quite the "wow this is for real realization". We are 10 very real weeks away from welcoming our boys into our home!

Friday Five...

Five interesting, or maybe odd things about me.

(I had plenty of time to think about these today while resting, which was quite enjoyable. Especially since my kids were awesome! On another side note, JP finally got to feel his brothers kick. B was giving some very visual kicks on my right side and JP was able to have his hand kicked right off my tummy. )

1. I eat cereal with a BIG spoon. Every morning.

2. I eat ice cream, everynight. But only with a little spoon.

3. I read magazines from the Back to the Front.

4. I can't stand to have wet feet when I am wearing flip flops, even at the pool.

5. I can't handle being outside without my Oakley sunglasses, thus leaving me with raccoon eyes frequently throughout the summer. If they are not on my eyes, they are on the top of my head.

25 weeks...

I awoke this morning with a very uncomfortable abdominal pain accompanied by a bad backache.
Usually I don't have the backache until the evening, after a long day.
I spent most of the day very uncomfortable and unable to find a good position, so I called the DR. who decided it would be best to head to the Labor & Delivery for some monitoring. Of course when she finally called back the abdominal pain had subsided and I had just drifted into a wonderful nap.
After several attempts to find somewhere for the kids to go, we headed to the hospital with a fun bag in tow.
5 hours, 3 nurses, 1 doctor, 1 ultrasound, and several tests later we were discharged.
Let me tell ya nothing brings a family I mean drives ya crazier...than tired kids and daddy in a 5' X 9' room for 5 HOURS.
Let's just say if my blood pressure wasn't high going into the hospital, it was high going out!
All things considered, the kids really were well behaved. It was just such a small room!
So 5 hours later the verdict is that I need to have a couple days of bed rest. So it looks like our final weekend of summer has been planned for us. We are going to enjoy a lovely LAZY weekend. Honestly I think the kids will love it. They have worked a lot with me this week.
Babies were looking good once again, although they were so squirmy they gave the techs a hard time when they were trying to monitor their heart rates and the contractions.

When ya got lemons, make lemonade...

We awoke this morning to a very chilly and cloudy August morning. After getting our chores, aka work at the Giftshop done, we decided to have a cool weather adventure.
We went to the local "kids country" for a good time of kiddie rides and mini golf. Definitely something to take advantage of when it is cool and overcast. Lucky for us we even had free passes!

Does AJ know how to strike a pose or what!
Yesssss! A hole in one!

I was talked into ice cream at the end of the time, just in time for the sun to come out.

Sooo, we decided to run home and get our suits and give swimming another try. Lucky for us by 4 the sun was beating down and it was a nice 80 degrees and no wind. Yea! When we got to the pool there was literally only 8 other swimmers there. Seriously. It was good times.

Really I am not sure who loves the snow cones more...Me or AJ.
Probably ME!

This was our attempt at a group shot. Between my belly and my arm length it wasn't happening, but I love the shot of me and JP.
The cool day turned out to be a very fun and special day in which we arrived home at 6:30pm to yummy BBQ Beef ready to eat in the crock.
Oh how I love my crock pot.

Am I really saying these words...

It is August 11th.

August in these parts is UNBEARABLY HOT and HUMID.

So it is so extremely bizarre that after just barely an hour today, the kids and I left the pool saying :

"It is just too cold to swim today."

It was a abnormal beautiful August day with a strong breeze, sun, and just barely 80 degree temps. The water temperature with the wind was just too too chilly even for the kiddos.

Although I love these cooler temps, it is the last full week of summer and we want to swim.

So let's bring on the heat please!

Happy 4th Birthday AJ!

Flower cake for garden party with friends.

The "little" guys after the bug hunt.

Special day with Grandma on her birthday. AJ chose to go to the Butterfly Palace and invite JP too. After that she enjoyed lunch at the Play Pizza Place, shopping at the pet store, and a trip to Walmart to be spoiled.

Here she is with her family birthday cake. Toola Roola was brought to life with pink frosting and rainbow twizzlers.
I cannot believe my baby girl is now FOUR. It seems so big. Definitely feels as if those four years happened in a blink. She has grown so much this summer, losing most of her toddler attributes. She is definitely becoming a pre-schooler. Just a few short weeks and she begins her school days.
Happy Birthday A! We love you!

Yes I am a planner...

There are 143 days left till Christmas.

The panic is setting in.

Do you think this is too early to go ahead and put the tree(s) up? Complete with wrapped gifts underneath.

*remember I am expecting twins in November and I am sure I won't have time once they are born to decorate. Currently I am still feeling well enough to decorate 5+ trees and wrap presents. Now I do know that I really don't want to have to dust everything, but I also don't want JP and AJ to notice a holiday difference.
