They might be GIANTS...

We knew going into this year's basketball season that it would be a building year.
After our incredible soccer season, it would be a great opportunity for our boys to learn how to lose.
And not just how to lose, but how to lose with the heart of a champion.
Our team of boys is young. We are the youngest team in the league. We are also probably the shortest team in the league.
What we lack in age, experience, and height; we make up for in attitude and heart. This group of boys are not just great athletes, but they are promising young men.
They are also great friends, many of them playing together since they were 4.
I look forward to many more seasons, win or lose, with these boys.

Team, unity

It saddens me what other teams say during what is supposed to be a demonstration of sportsmanship.

Straw time...

Twice a week sweet AJ has gymnastics team practice for an hour. During that time the babies enjoy a snack or two. Or five. Ha!
Monday was a quiet day at the gym, so I let the babies out of their stroller to play. They immediately found sissy's water bottle and began playing with it. It was the first time they both figured out how to drink from a straw.
Big Guy mastered drinking the cold water perfectly. Little Guy sucked down a ton of water and then would immediately shoot it right out his mouth. The cold was shocking to him.

Menu Plan Monday...

One thing I have learned from the addition of the twins is the importance of organization. With that I have been attempting a weekly menu plan. It has been great to know what was for dinner, without having to think about it.

This week I thought I would join in with Menu Plan Monday, check it out here.

So here goes:

Sunday: Toasted cheese ravioli, Spaghetti with Simple Homemade Sauce, To Die For Cheese Bread

Monday: Taco Packet

Wednesday: Potato Soup and crescents

Thursday: Taco Soup and cornbread

Saturday: Leftovers

The 400m High Hurdles...

I can remember with our oldest how exciting every new event was. Encouraging his endeavors. We welcomed with great excitement all his milestones, both big and small.

Then AJ came along and we savoured her smallness. We enjoyed her slower speed and hew quietness. We were excited as she grew on her own schedule.

Now the twins.

First let me take a breath of air. Because I always feel as if I am out of breath, until they go to bed.

The twins are good boys. Very great babies, but there are two of them.

Every new milestone with the twins is met with excitement, but it is also met with stress. Just as we get comfortable running the race we have become conditioned to, a new milestone throws a hurdle in.

Wednesday this week we hit another hurdle.

Our precious baby boys finally outgrew their baby carrier car seats.

I knew it was coming, it was only a matter of time. Yet I chose to pretend it wasn't going to happen. I should be thankful it lasted as long as it did. JP was out of his around 9 months, AJ at 12 months, so really I should not be shocked that at 15 months my boys had finally grown out of them.

All of a sudden I am faced with not just one hurdle, but a whole track full of them. I don't remember running the 400m hurdles, but suddenly here I am smack in the middle of the race.

And just like in high school track practice, I will just keep trying until I figure out the right pace to make it over those hurdles successfully.

So the Groundhog saw his shadow...

We have had an unusual amount of snow this winter, specifically since January 1st. Eight snow days for 2010 alone.
Lucky for me, my older kids LOVE the snow. Lucky for them, the babies and Daddy do not like the snow! So we spent every chance we could outside. Hikes through the woods, snowman building, and many snowball fights.

Gentlemen, Start your engines...

We spent the better part of the afternoon, otherwise known as NAPTIME, at JP's Pinewood Derby for his Cub Scout Pack.
The twins did great especially after not getting a nap yesterday either.
The event went well, although JP did not do as well as he had hoped to. Usually he enjoys choosing design over speed, going for the most unique title. This year he had hopes of incorporating both. He definitely had the unique down, but the speed did not work out. His car ended being too lite, with no more spots to add the extra weight at the last minute without ruining the design.
He still did great though finishing in 3rd place for the Unique Deisgn Category.
The I-27 road sign complete with Lost Dog flyer and trashed soda cans thrown in the grass.

Miss AJ was excited to race her Groovy Bug. She did well, again not as fast as it was cute. She was thrilled with her results in the open division.
And after a very long afternoon, the babies drifted off to sleep as soon as their heads hit the mattress. So I will be missing the basketball game of the season in order to stay in the quiet house with sleeping babies.
A major bummer at first, but I practically never get the house to myself.

Washin' Dishes...

Trying to load the dishwasher, faster than the twins unload it, has become quite the cardio exercise event.

Big Guy realizing his head now bumps the top.

Little Guy getting comfy climbing on in.

I wonder how much weight that door will hold?

Apparently at least 36 pounds.

"Not Me" Monday...

There is no way that after I feed the twins their food, that I leave the spilled food on the floor for them to ahem snack on later. Nope, not me!

Back to School 09...

Third Grade

JP first day of 3rd grade. He got the teacher he had prayed for, Mrs. V. He is spending another year learning in an eMints classroom, where he does majority of his work on a computer.

Handsome boy.

AJ's first day of the 4's year of Preschool. She has her second year of preschool with Mrs. S, who she loves. She is the oldest in the class and doesn't quite understand why I can't just "call Kindergarten up and see if they can squeeze me in?"

Month TEN...

This post should have been written in September 2009

Little Guy
15lbs 9oz
25 3/8"
Size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers
Little Guy we are so proud of you! You started sleeping through the night this month! Yay! The week of August 17th you began sleeping through the night in your own room! You also began standing on your own immediately followed by taking first steps. You stood by yourself for the first time on August 23. Then just a few days later on the 30th you took your first step at Grandma's house. You also had your very first sickness, on the 3rd you had your first ear infection. You were fabulous when it came to taking your medicine.

Big Guy
16lbs 12oz
size 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers
Big Guy you are still the snuggler. You are still sleeping in mommy and daddy's room in the pack n play. You still wake a few times in the night to nurse. You will get the sleeping through the night thing soon enough. On the 22nd of August you started saying "aah" and "hi". On the 28th you took your first step at Grandma's house. Starting the first week of September, those first steps exploded into lots of steps! We are so excited for you new adventures.

Why the break?

Good question.

Obviously our hands are full at the babydolls and soccer balls house. Clearly that is just stating the obvious, or maybe not so obvious if you are not a Mom of Multiples.

Really I think the break was because of my desire to just keep my babies at 8 months old. The 9 month mark was a hard one and putting it in blog form just made it all the more REAL.

So while in my heart and my head the babies are still 8 months old, in reality they have celebrated many milestones. First steps, first teeth, first birthdays, second Christmas, first time sledding, first words, etc. It has been a wonderful 7 months!

Seven months?!

Seriously how does the time go so fast?

I will be playing catch up for a few posts just to document some of the big moments in the babies lives, and then we will resume with some regularly schedule programming.
