Imagine a community of women gathering together in a House of Worship, being led by women of Faith from more than 7 different churches.
Real Women. Real Issues. Serving a Real God.
PURE JOY 2011
Consider it Pure Joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2,3
Last night I had the privilege of attending this event that, in a word, was AMAZING.
Women, just like you and me, sharing their testimonies. I was in awe of their willingness to share their hardest life moments in order to give the glory to God.
Through those testimonies I was reminded more that ever of Jeremiah 29:11, one of my favorite verses.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
I was also reminded that being 'perfect' is not our testimony, it is how we handle those imperfect moments that is a real testament to our faith.
The women who shared their testimonies filled my eyes with tears, not because of their heartbreak, but because of their Strength in Jesus.
After the testimonies, we enjoyed hearing Suzette Brawner speak. She never disappoints.
I am sure I am not alone, but I felt as if we were having a one on one talk and the message was directed straight at me.
She shared 3 points:
My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry James 1:19
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.
Put It Down
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead Philippians 3:13
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. Isaish 43:18
Slow Down and Stay Amazed
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
Two other verses Suzette mentioned that had an impact on me:
The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Proverbs 17:27
A hot-tempered person stirs up conflict, but the one who is patient calms a quarrel Proverbs 15:18
Don't ask the Lord to guide your steps if you are not willing to move your feet. Wow.
And I am willing.
